Frequently Asked Questions

There are different types of in-home care:

Home Care — Non-medical care provided in the client’s home that focuses on providing caregivers to help with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as medication reminders, dressing, showering, cooking, cleaning, etc. Home Care caregivers can provide one-on-one care for up to 24-hours a day.
Tiva Living is a home care agency.

Home Health — Medical care provided in the home that focuses on skilled medical professionals (such as registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists) that perform medication reconciliation and prescription changes, wound care, development of therapeutic physical exercises, etc. Home Health care providers do not provide 24-hour care. RNs, PTs, OTs, and STs will typically visit a client in their home 1-3 times per week for 1 hour each visit.

Both Home Care and Home Health help keep your loved one living as independently and safely as possible in the comfort of their own home. Home Care is a great supporter of Home Health and helps ensure that your loved one is following through with any interventions and recommendations that Home Health has prescribed.

Yes. Home Care can be provided in Assisted Living communities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and even in hospitals if needed. In addition, we sometimes provide assistance to clients at hotels or other lodging when they travel for pleasure or medical procedures.

Home Care agencies, such as Tiva Living, hire caregivers as company employees – that means the caregivers have been carefully screened and are bonded and insured. As their employer, Tiva Living pays and is responsible for all the payroll taxes and worker’s compensation so you don’t have to worry about the quality of the caregiver or about the liability of having someone in your home. The agency takes all this responsibility and stress off your hands.

We provide services in Cobb, Cherokee, Bartow, Paulding, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Fulton and DeKalb Counties.

Costs for services are based on each individual client’s level of care and needs.

Tiva Living offers three levels of care:

Light Care — Caregivers provide companionship, meal preparation and serving, and light housekeeping.

Medium Care — Caregivers provide all of the above plus medication reminders, stand-by assistance, bathing assistance, dressing, and personal hygiene.

Specialty Care — Caregivers provide all of the above plus transfers, bed-bound care, feeding assistance, incontinence care, peri-care, transportation services, Alzheimer’s or dementia care.

Tiva Living’s Care Managers can give you an exact price quote once they have performed an assessment of your loved one’s level of care needs.

Tiva Living provides you with your own personalized Care Management Team consisting of a Care Manager, On-Call Supervisor, and Quality Assurance Lead. However, all our administrative staff is cross-trained and can assist you with any urgent matters in case your Care Manager is unavailable at the time of your call.

Upfront planning and preparation are helpful in providing the highest levels of service to match our client’s needs and personal preferences, so a few days preparation is ideal. However, we realize things don’t always happen according to plan, and Tiva Living can generally process a new client and get a caregiver to your house in just a few days to ensure safety for the client and peace of mind for their loved ones.

Tiva Living will send a qualified replacement caregiver to assist your loved one until their regular caregiver returns to work. To provide continuity of care, Guidance Care Managers will always try to restaff with a caregiver who has already worked with your loved one before. However, sometimes a new caregiver will be introduced to cover temporarily.

Tiva Living understands the importance of being able to customize your schedule to best suit your needs and lifestyle. However, frequent schedule changes could result in being assigned new caregiver(s) if your established caregiver is not available to accommodate your schedule adjustment. Schedule changes should be submitted to your Care Manager via phone or email. Please do not submit any schedule changes directly to your caregiver(s). Your Care Management Team will ensure that your requests are processed accordingly and will inform your caregiver(s) of any adjustments.

We hope we have answered all your questions. If not, please do not hesitate to contact us at 770- or inquiry@TivaLiving.com for further assistance!
